Shoe Wars is a super punny story!
If you’re looking for a fun and cute story that has a hint of adventure, then this book is for YOU!
First of all, I love all of the puns in this book. Because this book is about shoes, everything is shoe related.
Everyone’s last name is a type shoe. All of the towns have shoe names. And of course there are foot notes!
This just makes the book extra fun!
The plot is great, too.
The kids work to make sure the evil Wendy Wedge (see, I told you) doesn’t win the coveted Shoe Award.
To stop her from winning they need to make sure she doesn’t get her hands on their mother’s coveted flying shoes.
And they also have to free their father from Wendy’s control.
Loads of action happens because Wendy is not nice. And neither is her son Walter. They’ve got poisonous snakes, rotten attack dogs, and loads of other unkind things.
All of my students loved the first few chapters and begged for me to purchase it for our school library.
This book is great for students in grades 2 and up!
