Directed Drawing: Boy + Bot

$2.00

Teach elementary students complex coding skills and concepts through drawing. Directed drawing is a great way for students to learn what sequences and conditional coding are. It’s a familiar way for students to learn coding concepts as it draws upon their prior knowledge of shapes and lines to teach sequencing and conditionals.

This activity is great to pair with any book that has a boy and robot characters. It was designed to use with the picture book Boy + Bot.

Description

Students follow step-by-step instructions to draw a robot or a boy. These sequential steps help them understand that some algorithms require precision and to be completed in a particular order.

Students can also carefully listen to step-by-step instructions that outline for them how to draw a robot. These verbal instructions include conditional statements as part of the algorithm. They help students learn that we can program cause and effect relationships.

💜 YOU AND YOUR STUDENTS ARE GOING TO LOVE HOW MUCH FUN IT IS TO FOLLOW AN ALGORITHM!
