Description
If you teach coding or computer science to elementary students, you know how necessary it is for students to learn proper coding vocabulary. You also know that learning new terms can be difficult for students to master.
No matter how engaging robotics and coding games are; students should be able to properly identify what they are doing. When students create algorithms, build loops and conditionals, change variables, or debug a failing program they should be able to name what they are doing.
In addition to employing robotics, coding applications, or programming online, help kids learn the terms for the skills they are applying. To demonstrate true understanding of coding, students also need to name what they are doing. When they can name it, they then make more deliberate programming decisions.
Do it through games like I Have…Who Has… and BINGO. Two of students’ favorite games to play!
